I was changing light bulbs in two overhead lights and realized that I had gradually grown accustomed to the light bulbs going out one by one until there was almost no light left. My office had gradually become darkened, yet I had not really realized it.
Has that ever happened to you? You don’t really notice things around you growing a little dim because you’ve just gotten used to it? Perhaps you have become complacent?
Living the Christian life is kind of like that. We start moving away from the light little by little until, before we realize it, we are walking in near darkness. I John 1:5-7 (NIV) states, “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”
Are you walking in the light today?
